A Novel Island Detection Threshold Setting Using Phasor Measurement Unit Voltage Angle in a Distribution Network

Islanding detection needs are becoming a pivotal constituent of the power system, since penetration distributed generators in utility system is continually increasing. Accurate threshold setting an integral part island scheme inappropriate might cause hazardous situation. This study looked at islanding conditions as well two transient faults, such single line to ground fault and three-phase balance fault, assess event distinguishing ability proposed method. Therefore, goal this research was determine if generator (DG) capacity greater than connected feeder load, which over-frequency condition, DG less under-frequency condition. The significance work propose new method using slip angle acceleration that comes from phasor measurement unit (PMU) voltage data. simulated PowerWorld simulator on modified IEEE 30 bus equipped with DG. There three different interconnection scenarios test performance shows getting for all requires time step or 20 mile seconds after incepting into network. In addition, it can distinguish between real faults threshold.
